Former tennis prodigy Dusty Boyd (Jake Johnson) has relinquished dreams of sporting glory and now he teaches spoilt children at the suburban country club run by his father Chuck (Ed Harris). Dusty aggravates an old wrist injury and as part of his rehabilitation, he tries out pickleball, the latest craze which is the bane of his father's existence. Enchanting partner Candace (Mary Steenburgen) inspires Dusty to enjoy pickleball - to Chuck's chagrin - and he is compelled to face the ghosts of his athletic past including childhood nemesis Andy Roddick (playing himself). With the future of the country club at stake, Dusty faces a stark choice between loyalty to his father and his new passion.
